Andrea Champlin is a visual artist based in New York. Originally from the Detroit area, Champlin received a BFA from Wayne State University, and an MFA from Yale University. She has participated in group and solo shows in New York City, Boston, Detroit, Connecticut, and Europe, as well as residencies at Stanford University and The MacDowell Colony. Her work has been written about in the New York Times, The Boston Globe, the Huffington Post, and NYArts Magazine, among others. She has taught for 7 years at the SMFA Boston, and is Visiting Faculty at SVA's Summer Residency Program in New York.
Champlin's recent works constitute an investigation into the conditioned experience of seeing — in particular, the way in which contemporary technology influences seemingly unmediated perception. Current projects are aimed at visually articulating a subject position within the media slipstream.
